How to Properly Clean Your Stainless Steel Tumbler

Stainless steel tumblers are great for keeping your drinks hot or cold for hours, but they need regular cleaning to prevent stains, odors, and bacteria buildup. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure your tumbler stays fresh and in top condition.

Daily Cleaning Routine

To keep your tumbler clean for everyday use, follow these simple steps:

What You Need:

  • Warm water
  • Dish soap
  • Bottle brush or sponge
  • Soft towel

Steps:

  1. Rinse Immediately: After each use, rinse your tumbler with warm water to remove any leftover liquid.
  2. Wash with Dish Soap: Add a few drops of dish soap to your tumbler and fill it with warm water.
  3. Scrub the Inside: Use a bottle brush or sponge to thoroughly clean the interior, focusing on the bottom and sides where residue can build up.
  4. Clean the Lid: Don’t forget to scrub the lid and any rubber gaskets, as these areas can trap bacteria and odors.
  5. Rinse Thoroughly: Make sure all soap is completely washed out to avoid any aftertaste.
  6. Dry Completely: Use a soft towel to dry your tumbler or leave it open to air dry.

How to Tackle Coffee and Tea Stains:

BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR

Add 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda to your tumbler. Then pour a generous amount of vinegar into your tumbler. (Remember this will foam up) Let this soak for a bit and then wash out the tumbler.

DENTURE TABLETS

(Yes, sounds a little weird. But this is my go-to for cleaning my tumblers) Fill the tumbler up with water and drop in your denture tablet. Let this sit for a few hours or overnight. Then wash out your tumbler and allow it to dry. (This works for ceramic coffee mugs as well)

How to Clean Your Tumbler Lid

  1. Flip your lid upside down, slider closed.
  2. Press firmly and release the slider from the lid.
  3. Remove the silicone ring from lid.
  4. Wash all the parts, scrubbing in all the grooves.
  5. Dry completely before assembling back together.

Extra Tips for Long-Lasting Cleanliness

  • Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the stainless steel.
  • Never put your tumbler in the dishwasher unless it’s specifically labeled dishwasher-safe.
  • Use a straw cleaner to clean straws and small crevices in the lid.
  • Store your tumbler with the lid off to prevent moisture buildup and odors.

By following these cleaning methods, your stainless steel tumbler will stay fresh, odor-free, and ready for your favorite beverages. Regular maintenance ensures a longer lifespan and a better drinking experience. Happy sipping!
